This beautiful theatre is an amazing piece of history that defies the imagination and must be experienced to be truly appreciated.
Since 1927, the Alabama Theatre has been known as “The Showplace of South.” From its earliest days as a picture palace to its present reign as an elegant concert venue, the Alabama has a storied history. But the main attraction has always been an instrument that gives the impression the whole building is singing. The Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ once saved the Alabama from demolition and destruction and is now providing the 21st century soundtrack for downtown redevelopment. Join us as Pamela Sterne King traces the Alabama Theatre's legacy.
