This history series with Niki Sepsas tells the remarkable story of American Independence celebrating our 250th anniversary. Provided through a grant from the Alabama Humanities Alliance.
In the city of Philadelphia, 56 men came together in July 1776 to sign a paper declaring the independence of the 13 British colonies in North America. They were keenly aware that by so doing they would be declared traitors by the Crown and summarily executed if they were captured. This program chronicles the fate of those 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence and their families during the American Revolution which began with that Declaration.
